Check Out Tim Hawkins
I just love this guy. He is so funny. We live in difficult times so it is really important to step away for a while and get a good laugh. Laughter truly is GOOD medicine. After you watch this video check out some more funny things at Tim Hawkins.net If that isn't enough for you I HIGHLY recommend his DVD "I'm No Rockstar". It was given to me by my wonderful family for my birthday. You won't regret that purchase.

Scent Of A (Young) Woman

I read an interesting article today that I just had to share. The article claimed that there is a research company that shows that there are certain scents that remind people of youth. Scents that would make you seem younger.
37 people looked at models while they sniffed. The males then guessed the models to be 3-8 years younger.
A study done by the perfume company said that citrus fragrances, like mango, grapefruit & pomegranate smelled young and jasmine & musk smelled modern. This is according to 15 men. There is a perfume called Ageless Fantasy that combines all of these scents for only $120 a bottle. Talk about buying youth! Youth in a bottle! Amazing!
On a side note, I think my husband would have chosen 'pie' as the youthful fragrance.
Another study was done with 22 people. It showed that women over 40 produce twice the amount of pheromone noneal that is an odor associated with older age. There is some truth to someone that smells like an old person I guess.
This company is claiming that "young" scents are needed to neutralize this. "This" would be meaning "old people smell" I guess.
I am sure that it is true that certain smells are associated with youth. However, the bottle of pomegranate juice in my refrigerator dabbed behind my ears would be a lot cheaper than this perfume.
If you want to try the experiment for yourself they said that some similar scent combos are Pacifica solid perfume ($9) and Ed Hardy fragrance ($39.99), or this soy candle ($13.95).
Or you can be like me and just dab a little pomegranate juice (maybe add a little pie too) behind your ears. ;-)

Beethoven Number 5 or Number 9?
Geez! I had a funny experience yesterday. It felt surreal. I remember laughing during this conversation and thinking I would have never guessed that I would witness this. This was one of those "You Know You Are A Homeschooler When" moments.
I was sitting at the table with my two daughters, ages 13 and 17. My 17 yr. old loves to write. She has been working on a story for a few years now. She wants it to be published and later turned into a movie. She has done a lot of research for this book. You would be surprised at the titles of some books reserved at the library. The research that she is currently working on came in from the library yesterday. It was 2 CD's of classical music. Apparently, there is a very important scene that needs 'the perfect' music. It has to be a little bit sad and not too upbeat. She wants to say what the character is listening to during this time. The character in the story enjoys listening to classical music from time to time. I know this doesn't sound too funny, yet. I am getting to it. You need the back ground information on this one.
This is what happened. I am sitting at the table helping my 13 yr. old with some school work. My 17 yr. old comes in and sits on the other side of me. For several minutes we have been listening to Beethoven. Suddenly, like a scene from a movie I realize I am in the middle of a very passionate converstaion. My 13 yr. old is saying, "oh, no, you do NOT want Beethovens Number 5 sympony, Number 9 is much better. It has more of what you want. Number 5 is WAY too upbeat for this scene. The discussion goes on for a few minutes until I burst out laughing.
Shortly, after that there was a debate about who wrote the Sugarplum Fairy...I know the correct answer...Peter Tchaikovsky!
How funny is that? The fact that my 17 yr. old is checking classical music out at the library and then such a passionate discussion with a 13 yr. old? Surely, I have done SOMETHING right. I hope this gave you a laugh. I sure laughed about it yesterday.
Well, I am not sure what is funnier. The story above or the fact that my 13 yr. old loves country music AND classical music. She is an amazing child. :-)

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
(This was sent to me by my wonderful friend, Sherry. Thanks Sherry for your contribution. I thought it was funny and had to pass it on.)
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

Just For Fun

I told you about Spark people right? Well, I have been spending a LOT of time over there so not much time left over for attending to my blog. Hopefully, I will be spending a bit less time over there and can get back over here more often. If you are wondering what I am doing over there let me tell you. I am reading stories and pages about people. I am getting encouragement and support. I am staying motivated. And best of all, I have lost almost 6 lbs. now. If you haven't gone to visit hurry on over.
If you are wanting to lose some weight you certainly won't regret it.
On to todays post....
Since there is so much "serious stuff" to deal with in our world, today I thought we should have a little fun. I found a really fun place.
Check it out here.
Check it out here.
You can buy some dinosaur fossil ice cubes, a welcome mat that is your very own "finish line", magnets that look like gum that has already been chewed, or this fun creamer that has to be my favorite!

Off To The Gym!

Off to the gym tonight! (I really just wanted to say that because it makes me feel SO athletic and strong!)
Did you notice how good I look on that treadmill? OK, you don't really believe it is me do you? It's because of the hair right?
Well, I am just so proud of my self that I had to share it with you. I started going BACK to the gym. Yes, I started, then took a break, and now am starting again. I went 3 days last week and plan to go again tonight. I walked for 25 minutes last week and am thinking of going up to 30 minutes tonight. I know what you are thinking. Are you sure you want to add that extra 5 whole minutes. When you have been off the exercise treadmill (so to speak) for a long time you have to get back on carefully. You don't want to strain or sprain anything.
In honor of my new fitness/weight loss goals I have some exercise funnies to share with you. I thought they were pretty good! What do you think???
I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing..
I joined a health club last year,
spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.
The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'

Why No Comment My Dears?

Oh my dear readers, we're having that talk again. I put my post up and told you I would comment the next day (after you). What happened?
You are coming over to my little corner of the internet each day (amazing!) but why no comment my dears? It's like I'm in high-school and no-one will sign my year book. I am so sad today.
So the moral of this post, is to PLEASE leave me a comment!

The Answer Is...

Above is a tombstone I think my oldest is considering. I am not the only one that is sad she is growing up. So is she! She is a bit nervous about life after high school, college, etc.
Say a prayer for her please.
The question yesterday was this.
"Besides your name and pertinent dates, what would you want written on your tombstone? "
You were supposed to comment. Did you?
If not, leave a comment below. I promised you my answer.
My answer is:
She lived well, laughed often, and loved much
I love that saying!

Heard At My House Recently

Well, actually, this conversation was heard in my car and not my house. I just thought it sounded like more fun to say "at my house". Anyway, this conversation actually happened between me and my husband. I thought it was hilarious but he was stumped for a few seconds. It goes, something like this.
Hubby: Our daughter (teenager) is driving me up the wall.
Wife: (wondering to herself what kind of horrific behavior she is exhibiting) Really, what are you talking about?
Hubby: Every radio in the house is turned to THAT station. I try to listen to my favorite "talk radio" shows but every time I turn the radio on the station has been changed.
Wife: (holding back the laughter momentarily) You mean, that crazy teenage daughter of yours has gone all around the house changing the radio station to THAT CRAZY CHRISTIAN music? That same radio station that we ALL like? You have got to be kidding me? Do you hear yourself? (Then the laughter ensues.) Wife then explains how silly it is that hubby thinks his daughter has turned his life upside down by wanting to listen to uplifting, encouraging, moral, happy, Christian music. Then she goes on to remind him that other teenagers actually listen to terrible music that gives their parents the right to complain. ;-)
Oh, the many trials of being in a Christian homeschooling family. These crazy teens can drive you right up the wall with their loud Christian music. (snicker, snicker)

Finally!! Some Good News!!
You have to go here to find out why it may be GOOD to have a big booty!
I am so excited. Wouldn't it be great if times changed? How wonderful would it be if the super skinny models were replaced with the image of girls with an immense tush? The new beautiful babe with a bodacious behind? I can dream can't I?
This could be gooood! ;-)

Jane Austen and Kitchen Villains?

What do Jane Austen and kitchen villains have in common? Not a thing. I am combining them today anyway.
You should check out a new blog I found. This one is called "Kitchen Table Medicine".
"Who do you think the top enemies of the kitchen table are? Alcohol? Caffeine? Oh no! Those are just the small time crooks of the kitchen table. When enjoyed in moderation caffeine and alcohol are welcome at the kitchen table as a normal part of human socializing. So let’s talk about the REAL bad guys that should never be invited to join you at family dinner time."
You can go click on the following link to enjoy reading all of this post.
After checking out the oh-so-serious post above (wink, wink) all of you Ladies need to go over here and find out what Jane Austen hero you are.

The Bloggers Prayer
Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family.
Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well.
Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life.

New Look, New Name, New Links!

I have been struggling with the name of my blog for some time. The first title was supposed to be temporary and later I adjusted it. I finally came up with something that makes me happy. Be sure to read the top of my blog for the definition of my new title. Let me know if you like it or not.
With a new blog name I thought a new look would be fun! I hope you like it.
Now for some great new links. I found these recently and thought they were a lot of fun.

Changing Blog Title & Quote

In case you noticed and were wondering. I discovered another blog that had the same name as mine. Just thinking a quick change might make it more unique.
Since this is a pretty short post I thought I would include a quote I just saw.
Sin is the dare of God's justice, the rape of His mercy, the jeer of His patience, the slight of His power, and the contempt of His love.
-John Bunyan
Ouch! That really puts those pesky "little sins" in their place doesn't it? Changes the whole meaning of it's just a little white lie, too. I wonder if we read and thought about this every day if we would live our lives in a different way.
